2021: Year In Review

As we start off the new year, we reflect back on 2021 and what a year it was. While it wasn’t the year we all expected, it was a year full of hope, resilience, innovation, and togetherness.

Here’s a look at all we accomplished together:

Celebrated three major milestones…

  • Bristol Myers Squibb leased the remaining lab space at 250 Water Street, a 504,000 square foot state-of-the-art life science building.
  • Topped off our first apartment building, Park 151, a 20-story, 468-unit multifamily building located at 151 North First Street in the heart of CX. Preleasing begins in late Spring 2022 with occupancy planned for late Summer 2022.
  • Broke ground on a state-of-the-art, ten-story, 375,000 square-foot life science building, 441 Morgan Avenue.

Welcomed three new retailers…

  • Chef Will Gilson opened an Italian-eatery, Geppetto, completing his trio of restaurants at The Shed.

  • REI Co-op launched their first small neighborhood store concept here at CX, providing a curated offering of everyday outside gear, apparel, and services.

And teased the plans for a brewery coming in 2022…

  • Lamplighter CX will be a 7,000 square-foot taproom and brewery production space in The Shed. We anticipate an opening in early 2022. Stay tuned!

Reconnected with the community in person…

  • CX Summer Nights
    • Together with the ECBA, we brought the community three amazing nights of outdoor concerts, local food, and fun with our CX Summer Nights series.
  • CX Movie Nights
    • Together with the ECBA, we launched CX Movie Nights offering three nights of free double features for all ages in Baldwin Park including local food trucks, popcorn, and family fun!
  • CX Fit
    • In collaboration with Club High-Rise, we hosted our 3rd annual CX Fit series with 31 free outdoor fitness classes in the open spaces at CX.
  • Welcome Back Picnic
    • We welcomed the neighborhood and community back to CX with a picnic in the Picnic Grove and an opportunity to learn about the future of this new neighborhood.

Reintroduced an interactive sound sculpture…

  • The Musical Fence
    • Returning as a permanent art installation, The Musical Fence created by Pickup Music Project was installed in the Common at CX and is now available for visitors of all ages and music abilities to play and explore!

This is only a snapshot of all we’ve accomplished together with our partners and community. We can’t wait to see what 2022 has in store!
