Cambridge Crossing Turns 5!

Cambridge Crossing is 5! Time flies when you’re having fun.

October 17, 2017, the day we officially broke ground at CX, seems like years ago when the site was just a dirt lot. Fast forward five years and look at CX now! From completing 1.9M SF of life science space, to opening local restaurants and retail, to welcoming innovative tenants, to launching unique outdoor spaces and art for the public, we are proud of how far the CX neighborhood has come. But we didn’t do it alone. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the amazing community of people who make CX the vibrant and welcoming neighborhood it is today. As we commemorate this significant milestone, we reflect on where we began and how we got here. Let’s take a trip down memory lane as we look back on some of our favorite memories and accomplishments since breaking ground in late 2017:

 Welcomed FIVE Life Science Tenants

We’re thrilled to be home to some of the world’s leading innovators working to solve some of the greatest challenges of our time:

/ Philips, a healthcare technology company focused on improving people’s health and well-being through meaningful innovation, relocated its North American Headquarters to 222 Jacobs Street in 2020.

/ Cerevel Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that combines a deep understanding of the biology and neurocircuitry of the brain with advanced chemistry and central nervous system (CNS) receptor pharmacology to discover and develop new therapies, relocated its headquarters to 222 Jacobs Street.

/ Exact Sciences, a biotechnology company committed to providing earlier answers and life-changing treatment guidance for cancer relocated to 222 Jacobs Street.

/ Sanofi, an innovative global healthcare company, driven by one purpose: we chase the miracles of science to improve people’s lives, consolidated multiple locations into one at 350 and 450 Water Street in 2022.

/ Bristol Myers Squibb, a global biopharmaceutical company whose mission is to discover, develop and deliver innovative medicines that help patients prevail over serious diseases, is anticipated to open their doors at 350 Water Street in 2023.

Introduced a collection of curated retailers at CX

Celebrating local, small business owners has always been in our DNA, so it’s no surprise we’ve weaved that into our retailers at CX. We’re excited to offer a curated mix of local restaurants, cafes, breweries, and stores; something for everyone:

/ Lexington, a rooftop bar and restaurant.

/ Cafe Beatrice, an all-day cafe.

/ Geppetto, an Italian-inspired eatery.

/ Tatte Bakery and Café, an all-day cafe.

/ Lamplighter Brewing Co., a brewery and taproom.

/ REI, retail and outdoor co-op working to help you experience the transformational power of nature.

Launched FIVE Open Spaces for the Public

With health and wellness top of mind, we thoughtfully planned our outdoor spaces for a variety of uses and for people of all ages. Whether you’re looking for a place for physical and mental well-being or a place to connect or disconnect, there is something at CX for you:

/ The Common at CX, a 5-acre communal front yard marked with a large water garden, picnic grove with fixed barbecue grills, bocce court, winding walkways, and open grassy areas perfect for community events and concerts.

/ The Picnic Grove, located within The Common is an open space filled with picnic tables, umbrellas, fixed grills, and a bocce court for the community to enjoy.

/ Maria Baldwin Open Space, a hardscape park open to the public with plenty of seating areas for the community to enjoy. You can find CX Fit classes and CX Movie Nights here during the summer months.

/ Dawes Field, a half-turf soccer field with fixed fitness equipment and a cooling station.

/ Child Street Dog Park, an off-leash dog park.

/ Amelia Earhart Open Space, a lovely square to grab a bench and read a book.
